At the moment there exist 20 sites of the Tripadvisor system, each of which is made in the certain language. I won’t compare them – everyone can choose according to the language knowledge. But anyway all the sites are interconnected.
The choice of a language is just in the right upper corner of the site www.Tripadvisor.com (a red spot in the picture).
Let’s check up the difference between various language sites of the given system. For example, let’s select reviews of some tripadvisor hotels on the American site – I took the first hotel on the island of Phuket: Andara Resort and Villas, Phuket. We’ll see that the number of reviews is 59 (a red spot in the picture below).
In the upper corner of the site select the site Tripadvisor.de in German. We remain on the same page, but now all the interface is in German. The number of the reviews is the same – 59.
I hope with the choice of a language everything is clear. Let’s pass to the main possibilities of this remarkable tourist service.
Imagine that you’re going for a holiday and you have already chosen a few hotels. You’d like to look through the reviews of the tourists that have already been to the given hotels. Being on the home page of the site, type and enter the name of the hotel into the search (a red spot in the picture below).
For example, let’s take the hotel Kata Beach Resort: once you press ”SEARCH”, you appear on the page with search results.
The system Tripadvisor has recognized at once the name of the regions on the island of Phuket – Kata – in the hotel name. We are offered to do one of the following actions:
- to read the information on this region («1» in the picture)
- to look at all the hotels in the region of Kata («1a» in the picture)
- to open the hotel’s page on the site («2» in the picture)
- to pass at once to reading all the reviews («2a» in the picture)
- or the last review on the chosen hotel («3» in the picture)
- below you’ll see as well all the topics of the forum, where this hotel is mentioned («4» in the picture)
Choose the link reference to the hotel and press it – «2» in the picture. You’ll find yourself on the home page of the hotel – Kata Beach Resort.
At first we’d like to get sure, whether this hotel suits us.
So, choose «Virtual Tour» («1» in the picture) – as a result you will see the site open – Expedia.com (it’s a leading world system of online booking of hotels, air tickets, tours, cruises, car rent). You’ll see a window with a beautiful picture, with a layout of the hotel and services offered in it, all are with the clickable icons.
On the scheme of the chosen hotel, we can have a look at the beach panoramas, 2 pools, a lobby, a bar, a restaurant etc. We are interested in the beach so we choose the camera icon – «Beach» (it is encircled in red in the picture). Click and you’ll receive 360* panorama of the chosen part of the hotel.
How do you find it? Don’t you like to choose the place for your holidays on your own instead of getting anything imposed by a tour operator?
Here, on the page with the virtual tour there is another tab – «Photos». But we have little interest in it, because we are already experienced travelers – we know that here one will find just official photos of the hotel, always improved to artificial brightness and rarely displaying the real picture.
Therefore we close all the pages of the site Expedia and return to TripAdvisor.com, on the hotel Kata Beach Resort and Spa’s page.
We are not interested in other links in the upper part of the site page either, as they lead to the partners’ sites – Hotels.com, Agoda.com.
Now we would like to satisfy our visual appetite and look at the photos made by tourists that have already been to this hotel.
In the right part of the page press the tab “Photos” («1» in the picture) and then, a bit lower, the tab “All photos“ («2» in the picture).
The page with the photos of the tourists who have visited this hotel will open!
It is just the thing necessary to estimate the chosen hotel by means of “real”, and not “artificial” pics. Now we look through the photos («1» in the picture)
Below the photo there is a signature containing the link reference to the review of a tourist («2» in the picture), placed the given photo. The period of stay time is also specified.
So, you have looked at photos (so to say, you have studied thoroughly photo reviews of hotels) – we like everything! So partially we found an answer to the question – What hotel to choose?
Now let’s close the window with photos – we will find ourselves again on the home page of the given hotel – Kata Beach Resort.
It is high time to pass from the pictures and photos to reviews of the hotel!
Reviews of the hotels are classified by the system TripAdvisor.com according to two parameters: by trip type and by rating.
«By trip type» means the subdivision of the reviews depending on a purpose of a visit.
One can’t but agree that the requirements of a businessman arrived on a business trip will be quite different from those of the newly married couple, who chose this hotel to stay for their honeymoon. The expectations of the jolly young crowd are obviously unacceptable for an elderly couple.
So choosing the reviews of the hotel in the necessary category we’ll get much broader picture of what we should expect from this hotel.
For instance, you choose «Couples», that is the opinions of those who had a rest in this hotel in twos (a red spot in the picture).
